Thruxton - A tale of two halves for Halfords Racing with Cataclean
The car was strong all weekend, but the luck just didn't run the driver’s way. Qualifying on Saturday was again in stunning conditions, with both drivers on the pace, but couldn't quite achieve their best laps with both feeling there was more in the car. At the end of the session Dan ended up in P6 (2/10ths off pole) with Flash just behind in 9th place.
Race 1 - Both drivers were in the mix from the off, with Dan fighting with Sutton for third position and Flash connecting onto the train in 7th, Unfortunately Dan ran slightly wide through Goodwood which then shuffled him down to 5th where he eventually finished. Flash had the cruellest of luck, just one lap from the end, when he suffered a tyre issue which put him to the back of the order.
Race 2 - Dan had another hard-fought race, trading positions race long, again managing to bring his car home in 5th place. Gordon drove an awesome race forging his way from the very back of the grid to finish 11th overall and in the points!
Race 3 - Dan had a good start and was third going into Seagreave but got shuffled down to 5th in the proceeding melee, he continued a race long battle though and managed to finish up fourth when Jason Plato ran wide onto the grass. Flash again was making awesome progress up the order, which saw him sitting 7th place for some time, again though lady luck wasn't on his side, and he ended up having to retire with an engine failure with just two laps to go.
Dan added
"What a weekend! Some very close racing and great overtaking. I really enjoyed the weekend, but could have done with a little bit more fortune to consolidate my ultimate positions and finish a little bit higher, but I go away from here bagging 36 points which brings me into 10th in the Championship" Flash commented
"The car felt strong all weekend, this is a good circuit for us, but you can't have a problem in race one as that seriously compromises your weekend. I fought as hard as I could all weekend, but we had two race ending issues which have cost me some good points finishes today"2022 STANDINGS AFTER ROUND THREE THRUXTONDRIVERS’ CHAMPIONSHIP
